On Sunday 14th March a cohort of school sport ambassador’s and young sports leaders from the school sport leadership academy delivered a community fun run for the young people of Burnley. The sports leaders decided to support a local charity and took it up on themselves to donate all proceeds that they raised to Pendleside Hospice
The Fun Run took place within the grounds of Queens Park and attracted over 130 young runners. The sports ambassador’s and leaders were instrumental in both the organisation and the delivery of the event and got heavily involved in the pre-race promotion and support on the race day itself.
The event raised just over £400.00 and young leaders, Lucy Ellis, Natasha Howson and Gemma Lewis along with the partnership mascot Blaze the Tiger presented the monies to the hospice (pictured)
The school sport partnership would like to thank all those that came and supported us on the day by entering the race, in particular to Heasandford Primary, St Stephen’s Primary, Wellfield Primary, Blessed Trinity RC College, Sir John Thursby College, Unity College and Clayton Harriers Junior Section.
