The annual inter-schools cross country competition was held on 30th and 31st March at Towneley Park. Twenty one local schools were represented at the event which saw over 340 pupils compete.
St Stephen’s Emma Layfield won the girls race and Christ the King’s Trianian Croken was first back in the boys event. St Stephen’s took first place in the team event with St John’s Burnley winning the boys team event.
The event was organised by the Burnley School Sport Partnership and is one of over 15 different sporting events on the primary competitive school sport calendar. The cross country event is well supported by the schools and gives many children the opportunity to represent their school as well as contributing to the ‘five hour offer’ – giving more school aged children more opportunities to take part in high quality PE and Sport.
